I'm into chilled and lighter style red reds right now
Your not alone. Chilled reds are HOT right now (pun intended).
Make sure to check out Brian's wines - these guys are seriously cool and produce funky flavours out of Tassy. The 3 Pinots is a blend that's best served chilled - very easy drinking but not in a Ribena way, it's got hella flavour and earthy tones.
Next up on the must have list is Yangara Grenache, which puts the G in GSM. One of my friends (who does actually know what he's talking about) instantly said "it's gutsy, but not in a woo girl kind of way". Take that as you wish.
Finally, I'd have a cheeky gander at Paolo Scanvino's Nebbiolo. Sometimes red wine hangs around in your mouth, but this wine is bone dry. So you get all of the beautiful flavours and that's it - no lingering like a bad smell.
I'm a prosecco gal
Yeah you are!
One of the most common things I hear is customers buying piccolo's for a glass or two of Aperol Spritz. The bittersweet taste of Aperol is best with a fresh dry prosecco, so our top pick is the elegantly named Coppabella Prosecco.
If you want to venture slightly off the prosecco path, definitely add in a bottle or two (or six) of Vinifera's Sparkling Maddy. This is always a hit at our wine tasting events and is a soft, bubbly delight to start the night.
Two other choices to contemplate is the shiny gold bottle of Villa Sandi and Amber Dunggan's Just a Glass prosecco. Or heck, try them all in our prosecco six pack.
I don't own a corkscrew, so screwcaps only
You're in luck, not in the romantic sunset picnic kind of way though.
European wine is where you'll find the majority of corks (those fancy f***ers), so as a general rule stick to Australian and on the cheap-er side. Our Aussie wine picks is totally cork-less.
Top picks would be Nick O'Leary who has been recognised by James Halliday as a top 10 value and a 5 star winery. It's high altitude so all of the range is easy drinking style and I've never heard a bad word spoken about these wines.
Another cork-less and reliability delicious winery is Dandelion. Both the Shiraz and Riesling sit in our top 10 best sellers. Their tagline is 'Wish you were here...', and yes, yes I do wish I was there.
And after slagging off the European's... the chicken wine Rosé is cork-less. My bad.
I'm really into my wine so give me the good stuff
You and me both, and boy we have some good stuff.
The crème de la crème of our reds selection has got to be the Jim Barry Shiraz. Using grapes from Jim's first Shiraz block planted in 1964, this wine received 96pts and a gold medal from James Halliday.
My favourite things to hear is 'I don't like Chardonnay, but I like this Chablis'. Chablis is notoriously expensive, but the Domaine William Fevre is reasonability priced. It stands up with the best and delivers citrusy floral notes - perfect for seafood and salads.
The final wines to call out are two genuine DOC Nebbiolo's. Rocche Costamagna is ripe with ruby-red flavours, and Paolo Scavino has a touch more liquorice and minerality and a very very dry finish.
I support female founders
By supporting oh! so vino, you're support a female founder - so thank you! Read more about my story here. But less about me, we're here to talk about wine and there's two great winemakers to call out...
The first is Sam McKendry from Vinifera. She took over her parents winery in Mudgee (side note, it's beautiful and you must go). I'm obsessed with the Sparkling Maddy crowd pleaser and can't wait to see what she brings us next - watch this space.
The second to call out is one of the pioneers in the single serve wine space and that's Amber Duggan from Just a Glass. Each wine is 100% vegan and the packaging is designed by Kasey Rainbow. I know I should be trying to sell you wine from this website... but if you want to see more, check out her website for the full range.
